Plodding Along
You’d think with all the time I’ve had free due to the holidays, I’d have more sock done. Or more yarn spun. Nope.
I’m still grinding away on my Tyrolean Stockings, and it’s really slow going. I thought that these would go quickly, given that they’re knit with worsted weight yarn, but here I am, after several hours in the car over the past two weeks, and I haven’t even turned a heel yet. I don’t think I’ll be turning any heels for a long time, either. Yikes.
I finished off the first four ounces of the superwash Merino yarn I was spinning, but I decided that I needed to lemon oil my wheel. I’ve been putting it off and putting it off because I’ve been pretty active with the wheel. Or, I intend to be active with her most days, whether I actually do sit down and spin or not. The thing that really pushed me over the edge and made me oil the wheel was the texture of the wood on the lace flyer I bought and the tensioned lazy kate I got for Christmas. They’re both so smooth and soft, and in comparison, the wood from my wheel is dry as a bone. It was a little bit horrifying, and I feel really neglectful. Sorry, wheel!
I think I’ll be able to go back to spinning on it tonight or tomorrow, though. I’ll be spinning up the second 4 ounces of superwash merino, and then I can finally get back to the pygora blend. I wish I could jump right back to that, and I guess I probably could, but I was supposed to have this finished about two weeks ago. After the pygora, then there will be a nice 3-ply of the November 2008 Hello Yarn Club fiber. I can’t wait for that.
